2-Dimensional Design (Assignment 4)

Forth Assignment - Monogram

As for this assignment,  we get a chance to design our own monogram by using our name. After Ms Maslisa gave us a lecture,  we have 1 hour to do our research on our typography style at library.  As we finished our research, we have a group discussion to determined the style of each other. Mine was concluded as "cute" and Ms Maslisa agreed that. The next step was sketch 10 sketches of our monogram.

Secondly,  we started to do our stencils (basically is cutout on a plastic cover)

And then we started to print our monogram on 6 items

As for my pattern and poster

2-Dimensional Design (Assignment 3)

Third Assignment - Batik

The most enjoyable assignment among all others assignment of this subject I could say, because I get a chance to have a day trip with my course mates. Before 1 week of the day trip, we arranged among our self into group of four. And I was group with Chiang Shu Ling, Chong Shin Wen and Tia Nelisa. I am glad that I could have such a good group mates like them. We discussed about the themes we need for batik and we came out 4 (Japanese, Chinese, Skeletons, Lanterns). After that, we combined some into few sketches. During the class, we showed Ms Maslisa our sketches and ideas. Fortunately, she like it so much and after that we done some colour scheme and detail sketch.

Finally, we went for a day trip! I was so happy but stress at the same time, because when doing the first step of making batik, I messed up Shu ling's part. I felt bad because she need to do a new piece of batik. To make sure I would not make any mistake again, I stay up fully focus. At the end, my performance better. We finished our batik on time, and I am so glad we have a good teamwork because due to other groups, most of them just like 1 people do 1 piece. As for us, we did it all together 4 people do 1 piece. Thus, I appreciate I had a chance to done a batik by my own and my group mates.

2-Dimensional Design (Assignment 2)

Second Assignment - Expansion of Square

"What's your square?". This was the first question we received from Ms Maslisa when we attended her class. We all was curious, "Square is just a square, where can it be another type of shape?". As Ms Maslisa told us, square is just not a square, it can be story of yours or inspiration of yours and further on by a paper cutout display. After Ms Maslisa gave us a lecture, we started to find out our square and sketch it out. During that time, I surprisingly done my sketches in just half an hour. Thus, my square was appreciate.

Why appreciate? It is because I have meet a lot of great men and women in my life, those were my family, relatives, teachers, lecture, seniors and mostly friends. I want them to be in my assignment to show that I really appreciate them.

2-Dimensional Design (Assignment 1)

First Assignment - Self Portrait

At first, the first question in my mind was, "Why we doing this assignment again?". It is because we have done a self portrait assignment before when we were in 1st semester of Foundation in design. Due to Ms Maslisa still at oversea, when we received the assignment, all of us stress out. For the reason that we did not understand the introduction and instruction well. After that, Ms Maslisa came back and have 1st class of semester 2 with us. Ms Maslisa gave us a brief to let us understand more, and we get the chance to let her see our sketch. She want us to explore more on different materials on our assignment. As for me, she suggested me to use tea.

I get inspired by a Japanese Animation Film Director, Hayao Miyazaki. He considered the first animation movie producer. His movie fulfilled my childhood perfectly. "Think like a child" this was one of the lines in his movies. At the same time, it inspired me to draw a child portrait. At first I was thinking just stick tea leaves will do, but Ms Maslisa suggested me paint it with tea. Thus, my very first tea art was done. Thanks to Ms Maslisa for pushing me to explore new Technic.
